What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This is a holistic, non invasion medical system that has been utilized for over 3000 years to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness.

TCM ensures the body is treated as a whole physiological system. As the body resolves and recovers its physical pain, acupuncture is the integration tool which can bridge the mind/body/emotional connection.

All aspects of the psyche and body must be balanced and harmonized for full and lasting healing to occur.

What to Expect

Very small, fine, sterile, and disposable needles are used at points all over the body. Some people feel nothing during the procedure, others may experience a poking or mild aching sensation or a feeling of heat and warmth. The procedure overall is comfortable and most patients experience deep relaxation.

The therapy goal is to help you improve your quality of life and reduce pain and symptoms. Our acupuncturists provide a thorough assessment to get to the root of the problem and provide solutions.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Traditional acupuncture is based on theories of the flow of Qi (chee) and blood through energetic pathways within the body referred to as meridians. Qi is the driving force that gives us our ability to move, feel and live, also known as our “vital force”. Meridians circulate this force in the form of Qi and blood to every part of the body. Certain points on the body act as gateways to gain access and regulate the Qi in the meridians. Qi regulates the physical, emotional, mental , and spiritual harmony within the body by keeping this energy flow in balance.
